I was really routing for these two 😢

Discotek Media brought this series out on Crunchyroll back in the summer of 2015 and now they’ve continued to expand their distribution for the series Blue Submarine no. 6 with the series on multiple streaming services. Now, the four-episode run is getting some clips brought out by RetroCrush, which never really happened much before, and it’s fun to revisit as this show is nostalgic for me. This clip comes from the third episode as we get to see more of the world and a new attack by the enemy.

The series was directed by Mahiro Maeda based on the scripts by Hiroshi Yamaguchi. Based on the original manga by Satoru Ozawa, it was animated by GONZO for Bandai Visual.

The Japanese cast includes Hozumi Gōda as Tetsu Hayami, Yukana as Mayumi Kino, Miki Nagasawa as Mutio, Showtaro Morikubo as Verg, Takeshi Wakamatsu as Jung Zorndyke, andUnshō Ishizuka as Sidra Dedson.

The English dub was directed by Scott Houle with a cast that includes Michael Granberry as Tetsu Hayami, Pamela Weidner as Mayumi Kino, Dave Underwood as Iga, Juliet Cesario as Mutio, Mike Way as Zorndyke, and Scott Simpson as Verg.

The show was part of Bandai Entertainment’s first wave of DVD releases way back in 1999 and the streaming incarnation brought out all four episodes in its original Japanese version with English subtitles only.

Plot concept: In the future, the rising temperature of the Earth has seen to the melting of the polar ice caps with the planet’s last remaining land masses endanger of sinking into the ocean. As if humanity didn’t have enough problems, an army of ocean-dwelling creatures led by the scientist Zorndyke have seemingly declared war on mankind! Humanity’s last hopes rests with the state of the art vessel, Blue Sub 6 and her crew! Can Tetsu and Mayumi stop Zorndyke’s mutant army and save what remains of humanity?
