We learned in May 2019 that another yuri series is in the works as the Adachi to Shimamura light novel series from Hitoma Iruma had gotten the green light. We knew previously that the show had set plans for an October 2020 debut and now Funimation has announced their pickup of the show for the season as a simulcast. Details will come in for that much closer to its actual debut, obviously.

Satoshi Kuwabara is directing it based on the scripts from Keiichiro Ochi. Shizue Kaneko is on board for character designs with Tezuka Productions handling the animation production.

Akari Kito will play Adachi while Miku Ito will play Shimamura. The newly added cast includes Manami Numakura as Hino, Reina Ueda as Nagafuji, and Iori Saeki as Yashiro Chikama.

The opening theme song is “Kimi ni Aeta Hi” (The Day I Met You) which is being done by Akari Kitō and Miku Itō as their characters.

The novels began in 2013 with Non handling the illustrations and eight volumes are out as of the announcement; Seven Seas Entertainment has picked up the novels for release beginning summer 2020. A manga ran from 2016 to 2017 with Mani illustrating it.

Plot Concept: Adachi and Shimamura, two young women who attend the same high school, are inseparable friends. Whether playing table tennis, chatting about favorite TV shows, or just relaxing together, they’re happy to share their days. When Adachi’s friendship turns into romantic attraction, the relationship begins to change, one day at a time.
