Based on the performance group Girls², an anime adaptation that translates as Girl School ~Holy Girls Square Academy~ got underway as part of the morning variety show Oha-sta on TV Tokyo back on April 6th, 2020. The show went on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic at the end of April and the fifth episode, which was set for May 4th, 2020 debut, has now been rescheduled with a July 6th, 2020 debut.
The series has Hiroaki Akagi as the chief director with Norihito Takahashi as the hands-on director. They’re working from the scripts by Junichi Fujisaku with OLM and Wit Studio involved in the animation production.
Plot Concept: The story takes place in Holy Girls Square Academy, an academy for training pro star performers. The anime will focus on students who aim to participate in the academy’s annual big event, the Girls’ Arena. The Girls² members will play themselves in the anime.
