There’s a lot of fans of The Mandalorian from when it debuted on Disney+ last year and while it’s taken some time the tie-in material is slowly coming together in a pretty interesting way. Lucasfilm has now set their plans for some of the expanded materials for it that’s definitely going to be appealing.
First The Art of the Mandalorian (Season 1) is coming from Phil Szostak who did the sequel film trilogy of books. It’s got a new Doug Chiang piece for the cover which you can see to the right and is set for a December 15th, 2020 debut.
Second, we’ve got a new book with The Mandalorian: Original Novel as its temporary name right now which is set for December as well as written by Adam Christopher. Initial information seems to indicate that it’ll be a fleshed-out novelization of the first season.
DK is also set to get in with a guide for this with The Mandalorian: The Ultimate Visual Guide. These books are usually so full of information with what Pablo Hidalgo brings to them that they’re a fantastic resource in general and just filled with great pieces of artwork. This one doesn’t have a date set for it yet.
Some younger reader books are also in the works with:
- The Mandalorian: Allies & Enemies – Level Two Reader (DLP) by Brooke Vitale
- The Mandalorian: 8×8 Storybook (title to be revealed later) by Brooke Vitale
- The Mandalorian: Junior Novelization by Joe Schreiber
For comic book fans, there are some Mandalorian-inspired works coming from Marvel and IDW in the future that aren’t fully detailed yet but are on the way.
