Still in something of an early talks stage, a new standalone Pirates Of The Caribbean is being explored that would have Margot Robbie com on board with writer Christina Hodson to pen the screenplay for. The two connected well on Birds of Prey and are looking to push a female-driven story since there’s a lot of good historical material to work with and bring to light in a fun way – as well as giving the franchise a shot in the arm after at least the last film that didn’t land well for audiences.
There’s still a reboot/relaunch of the main series going on that has Craig Mazin of Chernobyl working on with Ted Elliot, who wrote the original four films. The franchise has netted $4.5 billion overall since launch.
