“Let’s Read Some Fancy T-shirts!”
What They Say:
Cute but rude! Tatami-chan is a crazy-cute heroine taking on the ghosts, spirits, and even humans residing in the Tokyo metropolitan area in the new Reiwa era! Oshikiri’s unique style is on full display in this thrilling horror-gag comedy, coming soon! This episode has Tatami heading to Karaoke Sound to experience what it’s like in the big city since they’re everywhere.
The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
With the series going off the rails for me lately, but recovering slightly in the last episode, this one shifts gears into weirdness which could be its saving grace. With Tatami hanging with some of her younger friends on the park bench, they’re making note of the people walking by with English on the shirts and basically mocking it for being nonsensical. They get plenty to work with here and their put-downs aren’t really much of anything but everyone runs off crying, so mission accomplished there. Of course, the old monk has to come through with his own shirt, as does the priestess, and both are just cringey enough to work in a really bad way.
In Summary:
Watching a trio of characters basically cause a lot of people to cry over the choices they made doesn’t do a whole lot for me at this particular moment. It’s low-hanging fruit and doesn’t have great ending material either, resulting in a moment where you’re glad there’s only one episode left.
