Get ready to do some headbanging.

Sentai Filmworks is continuing to work through bringing out trailers for shows that they had on their discs but not on their social media channels. The latest one to gets some attention is the 2014 series Brynhildr in the Darkness. This show features one of the opening sequence songs that absolutely does and does not fit the show at all and will definitely leave you wide-eyed if you have your volume up more than might be good for it.

Check out our review of the North American Blu-ray release here.

The property comes from Lynn Okamoto, original creator of Elfen Lied and is directed by Kenichi Imaizumi (Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Student Council’s Discretion Level 2) with character designs by Hiroaki Karasu (MAOYU, Gatchaman Crowds), scripting by Yukinori Kitajima (Hamatora, Senran Kagura), and animation production by ARMS (Elfen Lied, Samurai Girls).

The series features the two opening sequences and the main ending sequence which features Nao Tokisawa handling the first opening instrumental while the second opening has Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas performing “Virtue and Vice.” The ending sequence has the voice actors that include Risa Taneda, Aya Suzaki, MAO, and Azusa Tadokoro performing “Ichiban Boshi W.”

Plot Concept:  A high school senior Murakami Ryota had a childhood friend called Kuroneko who died in an accident. Ryota had made a promise with Kuroneko that he will prove there are aliens in the universe. In order to fulfill his promise, he joined the astronomy club at the school as its only member and kept observing the stars almost every night. One day, a girl who looks like Kuroneko transferred into his class. To his surprise, the girl’s name is Kuroha Neko which is really similar to his childhood friend’s name. However, it seems that there is something unusual about her. It turns out that she is a witch who actually escaped from a research laboratory.
