Crunchyroll Announces New Original Series With ‘Onyx Equinox

1 min read
The series follows a young Aztec boy who journeys across Mesoamerica to save humanity.

Crunchyroll has pulled back the curtain on their next original series which will give a lot of people some really neat Avatar the Last Airbender vibes with the Onyx Equinox project. The show doesn’t have a lot of details provided just yet other than coming soon (social media information says summer 2020, but COVID may have played havoc with that) but it’s launched with a good key visual and a thoroughly engaging trailer. The series comes from Crunchyroll Studios Productions as created by Sofia Alexander. Alexander’s credits are pretty solid with storyboard work on twenty-eight episodes of Powerpuff Girls, working as the storyboard artist on Invader ZIM: Enter the Florpus, and work on Infinity Train and Stretch Armstrong.

She serves as the executive producer, creator, and showrunner on this.

Plot Concept: The story follows a young Aztec boy named Izel who is saved from death by the gods and is chosen to act as ‘humanity’s champion,’ forced to discard his apathy toward his fellow man and prove humanity’s potential.
