It’s hard to believe but it’s been just over a month since the Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon anime was announced. With Viz Media having secured the rights for it already and with Rumiko Takahashi involved on character designs, there’s plenty to be excited about. The latest piece of news has come in that will certainly cement this as a family show when it arrives as the official site has revealed that it’ll air this fall on YTV/NTV with a planned 5:30 pm JST showing on Saturday evenings.
Teruo Sato will direct the series while Katsuyuki Sumisawa is working on the scripts for it. Yoshihito Hishinuma is responsible for animation character design and we’ll get music from Kaoru Wada. The animation production is by SUNRISE.
The latest update for the project is giving us a new look at the character designs from Takahashi for the three leads and a group shot to gauge their dynamic, which is definitely going to delight those waiting to get more of this universe.

Plot Concept: In Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, the daughters of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha set out on a journey transcending time. Set in feudal Japan, half-demon twins Towa and Setsuna are separated from each other during a forest fire. While desperately searching for her younger sister, Towa wanders into a mysterious tunnel that sends her into present-day Japan, where she is found and raised by Kagome Higurashi’s brother, Sota, and his family.
Ten years later, the tunnel that connects the two eras has reopened, allowing Towa to be reunited with Setsuna, who is now a demon slayer working for Kohaku. But to Towa’s shock, Setsuna appears to have lost all memories of her older sister. Joined by Moroha, the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, the three young women travel between the two eras on an adventure to regain their missing past.
