The fall 2019 anime adaptation of the Magical Sempai manga saw its simulcast through Crunchyroll and the manga was previously picked up by Kodansha Comics. Now, original creator AZU has revealed that the series will be ending soon with the eighth volume being the final one. The seventh volume is set for a July 6th, 2020 debut so we’ve got a bit to go before it comes. AZU made clear in his tweet that this is not a cancellation but rather a planned ending.
The anime adaptation has Fumiaki Usui directing based on the series composition and scripts by Rintarou. Eriko Ito is on board as character designer and chief animation director with LIDEN FILMS handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Kaede Hondo as Senpai, Aoi Ichikawa as Assistant, Eri Kitamura as Saki-chan, Rie Takahashi as Madara-san, Daisuke Namikawa as Ma-kun, and Himika Akaneya as Sister.
The work comes from creator AZU that began in 2016 in Young Magazine and has seven volumes out as of summer 2020. Kodansha Comics USA is publishing the series domestically in digital format.
