We learned in October 2019 that the light novel series Maō Gakuin no Futekigōsha was in line for an anime adaptation as The Misfit of Demon King Academy. Originally plotted for an April 2020 debut but rescheduled for a July 4th, 2020 debut due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the folks at Aniplex USA are showing their plans for it. With the addition of a subtitled version of the most recent trailer made available, they’ve confirmed that it will be streaming on Crunchyroll this summer. Crunchyroll will detail their plans for it in the near future with regional availability.
The series has Shin Oonuma as the chief director and Masafumi Tamura as the director. Mirai Minato is on board as the assistant director. Jin Tanaka is handling the scripts with Kazuyuki Yamayoshi adapting the character designs. Silver Link is working the animation production. Check out the new key visual below as well.
The anime adaptation will feature Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Anoth. Additional casting includes Tomori Kusunoki as Misha Necron and Yuko Natsuyoshi as Sasha Necron.
The opening theme song is “Seikai Fusaikai” by CIVILIAN while the ending theme song information with it being “Hamidashimono” by Tomori Kusunoki.
The novels come from Shu which began in 2017 and has five volumes to date. A manga adaptation launched in the summer of 2018 from Kayaharuka.
