Studio Colorido’s Reveals New ‘A Whisker Away’ Anime Feature Film Trailer

Studio Colorido has its second original anime film now on the schedule with Nakitai Watashi wa Neko o Kaburu, which has the English-language title of A Whisker Away.  The film was set for a June 5th, 2020 debut in Japan but was pulled recently with all the theater closures. Netflix then acquired the film for release and has plans for a June 18th, 2020 global debut. The official site has another new trailer for it below that gives us a sample of the ending theme song from it with “Usotsuki” from Yorushika.

It’s directed by Junichi Sato and Tomotaka Shibayama based on the screenplay by Mari Okada. The previously announced Japanese cast includes:

  • Natsuki Hanae as Kento
  • Kōichi Yamadera as Cat Storekeeper
  • Hiroaki Ogi as Homeroom Teacher Kusugi-sensei
  • Minako Kotobuki as Yoriko Fukase

  • Susumu Chiba as Yōji Sasaki
  • Ayako Kawasumi as Kaoru Mizutani
  • Sayaka Ohara as Miki Saitō
  • Daisuke Namikawa as Tomoya Sakaguchi

Plot Concept: The film is finding one’s true self is set in Tokoname, Aichi and centers on Miyo “Muge” Sasaki. She is a peculiar second-year junior high student who has fallen in love with her classmate Kento Hinode. Muge resolutely pursues Kento every day, but he takes no notice of her. Nevertheless, while carrying a secret she can tell no one, Muge continues to pursue Kento. Muge discovers a magic mask that allows her to transform into a cat named Tarō. The magic lets Muge get close to Kento, but eventually, it may also make her unable to transform back to a human.
