The Review
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Just when it looks like Minare is making progress She shows signs of regret and wants to run back to Mitsuo. She questions if Mitsuo really has changed and wanted to be a proper man. And then she goes off on a completely wild tangent. At first, this was a great tactic. Minare would ramble on and on and you would get captivated by her storytelling. Its a one-trick pony and has gotten old fast. Mato best describes the feelings by saying he would “listen to the details over a drink another day.” He has to get a drink to bother to deal with Minare’s absolute insanity.

Minare has no regard for anyone’s feelings and these parts are cruel but fantastic. The first situation is at Mizuho’s apartment. Mizuho has to deal with the tragedy that her hero, Kureko is leaving the radio station. Minare randomly announces that she is leaving Mizuho’s apartment and going out on her own. I do have to wonder how Minare is going to be able to afford the rent by herself. She did pick up a little bit of money from Mitsuo but that won’t last long knowing Minare. There are parts where Mizuho needs Minare more than Minare needs Mizuho. Mizuho has become so accustomed to dealing with Minare. Minare quickly rips off the bandaid and wants to move forward. I do feel like she is going to change her mind soon and decide to stay with Mizuho.

The second situation is while she is working with her other job at Voyager. She is calling Mato about the Mitsuo incident and is being obnoxiously loud for everyone to hear. One of the unfortunate people hearing their conversation is Nakahara. Nakahara has been after Minare but his feelings have been unrequited time and time again. Nakahara only hears a part of the story and gets the wrong idea. He believes that Minare has gotten back with Mitsuo. Nakahara’s spirit has been completely demolished and cooks the wrong dishes. How would any guy react if they hear the girl they have a crush say” Then I poked into his hole, that’s all” about their former boyfriend. Nakahara has to be the third unluckiest man in this anime but the one that deserves pity the most. Tachibana notices the fierce pain that Nakahara is feeling and attempts to talk to Minare to no avail. She slightly reveals that she has feelings for Nakahara but is unable to act upon them. This is the beginning of a love triangle with two sides have unreciprocated love and the third side being the chaotic neutral element. Nakahara plays the adorable but clueless guy who keeps attempting fruitless endeavors. Minare told Nakahara in her own quirk method that she has no interest in him. Nakahara has been giving a great setup with Tachibana but he ignores the clues right in front of his face.

This episode provides a history lesson of how different kinds of sounds were created for radio stations before modern recording existed were used. It is fascinating how simple tools were used to create a variety of sounds. Techniques evolve over time to makes aspects of life easier but there is still a need for the old ways.

Mitsuo will haunt Minare from beyond the dead till she is no more. Mato has decided upon Minare’s latest radio show. She is going to be performing a live radio drama with Mato. The idea for this has her killing Mitsuo and calling Mato to help her cover up the murder. She passionately kisses Mato after their horrific deed. All of a sudden, Mato disappears and Mitsuo rises from the grave. I am intrigued to see hows this story will play out on the radio.

In Summary:
This episode focuses more on the multiple aspects of being an adult. You have the wreck, known as Minare, and how she impacts other people. A downside of this episode is that it felt devoid of the humor that Minare brings with her. Her tumultuous side is usually manageable when she brings her humor with her. I was fascinated by the behind the scenes lesson of how radio used to operate. Mato mixes in current and ancient techniques for Minare’s next performance. I do want to see Minare being able to live up to the potential that Mato sees in her.
