Catarina has some exciting news to share with Anne. She’s advancing to the next grade! Yay! I think it’s safe to assume that we all thought there was a good possibility that she might fail. But hey, she didn’t! Time to celebrate! Before she goes to deliver the good news to everyone else, Catarina tells Anne that she made it to second year because she had her. Anne is taken aback by that comment. She feels like she hasn’t done anything. Oh, but she has! She stayed by Catarina’s side this whole time and that’s what counts! D’awww. That’s adorable. Everyone congratulates Catarina after they hear the news. Anne, who’s observing from afar, remarks that Catarina is very popular in certain circles. What she’s basically saying is that she knows that everyone is in love with her and that she’s oblivious to their feelings. Tell us something we don’t know! Still, it was fun hearing Anne’s commentary about each of Bakarina’s relationships. Also, she kept showing a scar on one of her arms. I wonder how she got that?

Anyway, Catarina decides to have a pajama party to celebrate her advancement. The girls are going to chat and eat delicious snacks together. Geordo thinks that sounds delightful! Sorry bro, girls only! No boys allowed! Catarina suggests they have a boys-only slumber party. Geordo isn’t too sure about that. Keith definitely wants no part of that! What would they even talk about!? On the other hand, Nicol and Alan think that a boys-only slumber party would be kind of fun. Just the boys talking all night! Naturally, Sophia starts having BL fantasies about it. Later that day, Catarina is trying to pick the perfect pajamas for the party. I just want to comment that she has…interesting taste in pajamas. She even has a pair that lights up in the dark, haha. Anne suggests that she choose something a bit less eccentric. Catarina listens to her advice and ultimately goes with a normal pair of pajamas.

Let’s get this pajama party started! It can’t be a pajama party without love talk! Catarina wants to know if anyone has a sweetheart. Oh, we know who they all wish was their sweetheart, don’t we? Anywho, the girls all answer that they don’t. This pleases Catarina. If they’re not in love with anyone, that means she doesn’t have to worry about doom flags! Score! Sophia wants to know if they did have a sweetheart, what would they do with them? Mary really, really, really wants to know how Catarina will respond. Well, Catarina would love it if she could feed them a meal using the vegetables from her garden. Also, Catarina is blushing! Okay, next up is Maria! She’d love to make sweets for her special someone. Unsurprisingly, Mary would go all out with her sweetheart. They’d eat together, bathe together, comb each other’s hair, and even trade dresses. Catarina is confused. You wouldn’t trade dresses with a boy, would you? Mary is confused. Does their sweetheart have to be a boy? It certainly does not! Also, get a clue, Bakarina! As for Sophia, she just wishes for ordinary things. Stuff like visiting bookstores together, fighting for the good of the country together, and freeing their hearts from the darkness lurking within them. Totally normal dreams. Yeah, she’s been reading too many romance novels again.

What about Anne? Does she have a sweetheart? Or maybe she’s already arranged to be married? Anne remarks that she doesn’t have anyone like that. In fact, she doesn’t want to marry anyone. Why is that? The girls are dying to know! Anne doesn’t really want to talk about it. Everyone has their secrets. We’ll learn more about Anne a bit later. For now, Catarina asks everyone if they could be reborn as anyone, who would they be? Sophia would want to be reborn as a princess in a forbidden romance with a knight. Again, she’s reading too many romance novels. Mary would want to be reborn as a man with a higher status than Prince Geordo, haha. I wonder why? This girl talk is going to last a while so Catarina tells Anne to get some rest.

Anne backstory out of nowhere! We learn that her father was a baron and her mother was one of his maids. Oh boy, I can already see where this is going. She was told by her mother to be submissive around him so that he would like her. She convinced herself that she was happy with this kind of life. We know she wasn’t though. Sadly, Anne’s mother died in a fire when she was fifteen. She also got a nasty scar as a result of that fire. Ah, so that’s how she got it. In a dickish move, her father tells her that she’s no longer useful to him with that scar. No one will want to marry her now and he kicks her out of the house. Wow, father of the year, am I right? She was never needed. She was just a tool. Eventually, Anne found work as a maid for the Claes family. She was responsible for looking after their daughter, Catarina. As we all know, she was a huge brat. Well, that was until she bumped her head and got that scar. Afterward, she changed dramatically. She was cheerful, energetic, and treated everyone equally! Anne was used to being submissive and not having a will of her own. Catarina changed all of that. She started speaking her own mind. She could no longer be a tool. Catarina accepted and loved Anne for who she was. She made Anne Shelley who she is today! Adorable.

That was some emotional stuff! We could probably use a laugh right about now. The next day, Geordo gets a letter from Catarina that asks him to meet her at the terrace in the garden behind the school. Is…is it finally happening? Is Catarina confessing her love to him!? Think this through, Geordo! She could just want to tease him with a new toy snake, haha. He’s not wrong though. But you know what? Geordo chooses to believe that this is finally his chance! The poor fool. He needs to bring her a gift! But Catarina is no normal girl. What would make her happy? Geordo gets an ingenious idea. A new pair of shears! She’ll love them. Geordo is satisfied and happily awaits their rendezvous. Again, this poor sap. Geordo heads over to the garden…and is greeted by everyone else. Shouldn’t have gotten your hopes up, Geordo. Catarina invited everyone here today to help her out with her harvest day! But hey, all is not ruined for him. He can still make an impression by giving Catarina the shears! She loves them! In fact, she loves ALL of the shears that everyone gave her today! Poor Geordo. Heck, poor everyone. They should have known better though! This is Bakarina we’re talking about!

After the credits, there’s a scene where a girl tells Catarina that she will expose all of her evil ways to the world. Well, that’s certainly ominous.

In Summary:
Can we technically add Anne to Catarina’s harem? She may love Catarina more than anyone else, even Mary! And that’s saying a lot! All joking aside, I really liked that we got to see Anne’s backstory. I always wanted to know how she got that scar and now I know! By the way, her dad is a jerk. I loved the scene where a young Catarina marches up to him and demands that he give Anne back to her. It was awesome. Take that, jerkface dad! As is the case with everyone who interacts with Catarina, Anne was changed by her. She realized she wasn’t just a tool. She was her own person who could think for herself. And most importantly, Catarina loved her for who she was. Freaking adorable. You’ve got to love how Catarina changes people for the better. Well, I guess that’s debatable. Mary may end up murdering someone one of these days. She’s still awesome though. She actually said that if she could be reborn as anyone, she’d like to be a man with a higher status than Prince Geordo, haha. Best line of the episode. The pajama party was fun. Although, I wish the boys would have had their own. Imagine all that boy talk! Everyone getting the wrong idea about Catarina’s letter at the end was hilarious. Those poor suckers. On the bright side, at least they all knew what she would want. Catarina has shears for days! The only thing I wasn’t a big fan of in this episode was that roughly one-third of it was spent telling us that Anne knew that everyone was in love with Catarina. It’s cool that she knows but who doesn’t!? Anyway, I’m looking forward to the next episode. Does a doom flag await Catarina!?
