‘BEM~BECOME HUMAN’ Anime Feature Film Reveals First Trailer

As part of the 50th-anniversary(!!) of this property, a new incarnation is coming for Humanoid Monster Bem. After the recent series for it which was handled overseas by Funimation, a new feature film is in the works for the fall with BEM~BECOME HUMAN. The project has now delivered some new updates that includes a key visual to the right and a promo below.

The film has Hiroshi Ikehata directing it based on the screenplay by Atsuhiro Tomioka. Mino Matsumoto is on board in adapting Range Murata’s designs with Production I.G. on board for the animation.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Katsuyuki Konishi as BEM
  • Kensho Ono as Belo
  • M.A.O as Bela

Plot Concept: “Ribrasti” is a city where magnificence and decadence, prosperity and poverty coexist across a canal. Sonia, a young female detective, meets three people, called “Bem Bella Bello”, while chasing the mysterious and frequent incidents in the city. They transformed into ugly figures, eventually named youkai humans, and chased as suspects of the case, but they were the ones who solved the case and helped the people. All to fulfill the wish of becoming a human being.

The monsters who have been given different abilities by Dr. Recycle, the corrupt police, the “invisible council” that controls the city behind, and the Bem who confront another veteran monster, Vega. As a result of the fierce battle that destroyed the canal bridge, which can be said to be a symbol of human discrimination, Bem and his friends protected Ribrasti and disappeared…

Two years have passed since then. Sonia, who has been searching for the whereabouts of Bem, visits a drug company called “Draco Chemical” based on sightings. It was there that the two humans, “Berm Eisberg,” were found in Bem…
