Spending the night with two ladies…

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
Originally serialized in Comic Kairakuten magazine from the December 2016 installment, At the Evening’s Mercy is a twenty-four-page story from creator Koppori Nama Beer, who has about sixteen other works on the service. With them returning to the fold of hentai after a couple of years away, some of the older works are trending again and that got me to take a gander at this one, which provides the temptation of a threesome that I’ll warn you now doesn’t happen. But that’s fine because the creator puts together a really good build of a story that escalates nicely while trying to keep it all contained and that just heightens the mood throughout. Which with their artwork doesn’t need a lot of help in that department.

The focus is on the arrival of Haruka and Kana at Ishigaki’s place. It’s already late and he wans’t really expecting them, but the two have been out having fun and have decided to finish out partying here, or at least that Haruka’s story. Kana’s kind of along for the ride and mostly sober, apologizing for Haruka as she can here and there. It’s a nice setup with everyone helping to clean up a bit since Ishigaki got a bit messy along for a while and then we get to enjoy everyone hanging out and drinking. And a couple of quick baths later, the bedding pulled out and the two ladies cudled together while Ishigaki is off on the other side of the small room trying his best to get to sleep. But Haruka has burning questions that must be answered.

Which, amusingly, he gets wrong at one point in saying that he doesn’t really see Haruka as a woman, and that just sets her off – quietly. While she snuggled close to him under his blanket so they could talk quietly for a bit she’s now in full challenge mode and proving to him that she’s all-woman. And poor Ishigaki has to struggle against that while keeping quiet and keeping Haruka quiet as it doesn’t take much for her to start getting all vocal. It’s kind of topping each other here in a way but they get further and further into it as the hunger takes over all while trying to keep from waking Kana, who one suspects knows what’s going on and is just kind of waiting for it to be done. Koppori Nama Beer does a great job of really working the under the blanket material at first and the kind of disheveled look that Haruka plays up so well with her nightshirt that it’s all kinds of flavor of enticing. But they also do a good job of not sexualizing Kana as she sleeps across the room as she’s just under the blanket with an occasional bit of movement, but nothing that shows skin. It’s pretty respectful when you get down to it.

In Summary
With plenty of pages to work with here we get a good bit of lead-up story and character material that I think could have gone even further in really establishing the group dynamic here. There’s a lot left unsaid so you can interpret it in your own preferred way but I would have liked a little more definition of what’s going on here and just how this group really thinks of each other. But what we do get is good and when it shifts into Haruka proving herself under the covers it’s firing on all cylinders with great artwork, really good flow to it, and some nice touches that keep it from coming across in some really weird or bad ways.
