Sentai Adds ‘Angelic Layer’ Anime Trailer

2 min read

As the folks at Sentai continue to bring out trailers to their channel that they haven’t had before, it’s been a lot of fun to think about these shows that we may not have for awhile. The latest one to get the treatment is the Angelic Layer series. This series continues to be one that really holds a special place in my family as it was the show that was really the easiest to introduce the kids to when they were young and get them into anime in general from there – even with the certain creepy character within it. Check out the trailer below.

Sentai’s release, which came out on Blu-ray back in 2016, has extras that include:

  • Episode 1 Audio Commentary with Jessica Boone (Misaki) & Andy McAvin (Icchan)
  • Episode 6 Audio Commentary with Kevin Corn (Kotaro) & Monica Rial (Tamayo)
  • Episode 11 Audio Commentary with Shelley Calene-Black (Madoka) & English ADR Director, David Williams
  • Episode 15 Audio Commentary with Tiffany Terrel (Kaede) & Tiffany Grant (Sai)
  • Episode 17 Audio Commentary with Sasha Paysinger (Hatoko) & Mariela Ortiz (Ringo)

Based on the manga from CLAMP, the series as animated by studio Bones (Full Metal Alchemist, RahXephon, Halo Legends, Ouran High School Host Club) with direction by Hiroshi Nishikiori (Azumanga Daioh, A Certain Magical Index, Jyo-Oh-Sei). Series composition and scripting was supervised by Ichiro Okouchi (Azumanga Daioh, Code Geass, Negima!), musical duties were performed by Kouhei Tanaka (One Piece, Sakura Wars, Assassination Classroom), and character designs were adapted by Takahiro Komori (Darker Than Black, Scrapped Princess).

Plot concept: 12-year-old Misaki Suzuhara has just gotten involved in Angelic Layer, a battling game using electronic dolls called angels. Even as a newbie, Misaki shows advanced skills as she meets new friends and enters Angelic Layer tournaments to fight the greatest Angelic Layer champions of the nation.
