The folks at Frontier Works are lining up some properties from the Time Bokan world to bring out as SDBD releases over the next year. Next up on that list is Kaitou Kiramekiman. The full 26-episode run is getting release with one SDBD disc in the collection. It’s set for a June 24th, 2020 debut where it’ll be priced at 9,000 yen and we now have the main cover artwork for it that at least changes things up a bit from previous installments.
The series originally aired in 2000 and was directed by Hiroshi Sasagawa with Hidehito Ueda as the hands-on director. Futago Kamikita worked on the character designs with Tatsunoko handling the animation production.
Plot Concept: Set in the near future, the world is shaken by a couple of young thieves named Kiramekiman, who issue warnings before they go into action. Once they set their sights on a target, they never fail to steal it. Meanwhile, a detective trio is in pursuit of the Kiramekiman group but are unable to catch them. Secretly, the goal of Kiramekiman is actually noble, since they are only stealing certain objects in order to maintain peace in the future.
