The folks at Studio Ponoc revealed through their international focused Twitter feed back in August of last year that the Modest Heroes short film anthology is coming to Netflix. It’s titled as Studio Ponoc’s Modest Heroes – Ponoc Short Films Theatre, Volume 1 and as they noted at the time, it was set for almost all over the world on September 6th, 2019. They indicated they were working on North America at the time – where GKIDS holds the home video rights and did the theatrical release – and they’ve finally got it figured out. The property, which we definitely recommend checking out, is set for a May 22nd, 2020 debut on the Netflix service in the US here.
Check out our review of the film.
Plot Concept: Modest Heroes is an ambitious anthology of three thrilling tales (Kanini & Kanino, Life Ain’t Gonna Lose, Invisible) created by some of the greatest talents working in Japanese animation today.
