kimi-no-na-wa-your-nameThis one slipped by me earlier in the month but it looks like another edition of Your Name has made it out there onto the marketplace, even though it’s been a few years. A new Taiwanese version of film was scheduled and debuted with a May 5th, 2020 street date that’s priced at $43.99. It’s a two-disc set that features the original Japanese language with only Traditional Chinese subtitles this time around. The second disc features the commemorative special for the film and more extras.

The film previously saw release in 2016 as a deluxe edition in Taiwan as well as a single-disc DVD.

Check out our reviews of the film! Kestrel has a rich and detailed review of the English dub while Ink has a pretty great write up of the Japanese version.

Written and directed by Makoto Shinkai, Masashi Ando is on board as the animation director while Masayoshi Tanaka is handling the character designs. Animation is being produced by Comix Wave. It features the song Zen Zen Zense from RADWIMPS.

Funimation has picked up the North American rights for the film while Anime Limited has grabbed the UK rights.

The Japanese cast includes Ryunosuke Kamiki, Mone Kamishiraishi, Masami Nagasawa as Miki Okudera, Etsuko Ichihara as Hitoha Miyamizu, Ryou Narita as Katsuhiko Teshigawara, Aoi Yuuki as Sayaka Natori, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Tsutomu Fujii, Kaito Ishikawa as Masahiro Takagi and Kanon Tani as Yotsuha Miyamizu.

The English language dub of the film was directed by Stephanie Sheh and Michael Sinterniklaas at NYAV Post. The English cast includes Michael Sinterniklaas as Taki Tachibana, Stephanie Sheh as Mitsuha Miyamizu, Kyle Hebert as Katsuhiko Teshigawara, Cassandra Morris as Sayaka Natori, Ben Pronsky as Tsukasa Fujii, Ray Chase as Shinta Takagi, Catie Harvey as Yotsuha Miyamizu, Scott Williams as Toshiki Miyamizu, Michelle Ruff as Futaba Miyamizu, Marc Diraison as Taki’s Father, H.D. Quinn as Teshigawara’s Father, Michelle Ruff as Teshigawara’s Mother, Katy Vaughn as Yukari Yukino, Laura Post as Miki Okudera and Glynis Ellis as Hitoha Miyamizu.

Plot Concept: High school boy Taki lives in Tokyo and spends his spare time hanging out with friends and working part-time at an Italian restaurant. High school girl Mitsuha lives in the rural town of Itomori, where her family maintains a shrine, and dreams of life in the city. The two begin to have strange dreams in which they wake up in each other’s bodies and bumble through each other’s daily routines. Soon, they realize that the dreams are real, and they’re actually swapping bodies! Through living each other’s lives, Taki and Mitsuha begin to form a close bond. Then one day, just as suddenly as it started, the body swapping stops. Taki sets out to find Mitsuha and uncovers the stunning truth behind their fateful encounter.
