The next studio Trigger original series with BNA – Brand New Animal is underway in Japan with both Netflix and Fuji TV distribution for it. The show is at about the halfway mark now and we’ve had two batch drops of the show for Japanese audiences while also doing a weekly broadcast. Netflix US has now revealed that the series will debut on the service for worldwide audiences on June 30th, 2020. That’s about a week after the show finishes its Japanese run. We’ll lay odds that we’re going to get the first half of it at least in multilingual form and I’d love to be surprised at getting the whole thing that way, but I’d like to hedge my bets.

The series has Yoh Yoshinari directing it with Kazuki Nakashima serving as the scriptwriter for it. It’ll be a part of the +Ultra block on Fuji TV next year.

The Japanese cast includes Sumire Morohoshi as Michiru Kagemori, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Shirou Ogami, Maria Naganawa as Nazuna Hiwatashi, Kaito Ishikawa as Alan Sylvasta, Gara Takashima as Barbaray Rose, Michiyo Murase as Mary Itami, Kenji Nomura as Kōichi Ishizaki, Hiroshi Naka as Yūji Tachiki, Hiroshi Yanaka as Jem Horner, Kimiko Saitō as Melissa Horner, Youhei Tadano as Giuliano Flip, and Houchu Ohtsuka as Prime Minister Shiramizu of Japan,

The opening theme song is “Ready to” by Sumire Morohoshi as Michiru while the ending theme song is “Night Running” by AAAMYYY.

Plot Concept: In the 21st century, the existence of animal-humans came to light after being hidden in the darkness of history. Michiru lived life as a normal human, until one day she suddenly turns into a tanuki-human. She runs away and takes refuge in a special city area called “Anima City” that was set up 10 years ago for animal-humans to be able to live as themselves. There Michiru meets Shirou, a wolf-human who hates humans. Through Shirou, Michiru starts to learn about the worries, lifestyle, and joys of the animal-humans. As Michiru and Shirou try to learn why Michiru suddenly turned into an animal-human, they unexpectedly get wrapped up in a large incident.
