The Hatena Illusion anime series is one of those quiet works that didn’t get much attention during its winter 2020 broadcast and simulcast. The show had its twelfth and final episode coming up at the end of March but it was delayed with no reason given at the time, though it was basically expected to be due to the COVID-19 pandemic and slowdowns that were going on at the time. The official site has now updated that the twelfth and final episode has been rescheduled for a June 3rd debut on BS NTV and a June 5th debut on Tokyo MX. It’s also getting a June 8th debut on MBS.
Funimation has been streaming the series and producing a simuldub for it.
Shin Matsuo is directing based on the scripts by Tatsuya Takahashi. Yuizu Nakano is working on the character designs with Children’s Playground Entertainment handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Makoto Shiranui, Aina Suzuki as Kana Hoshisato, Miyu Tomita as Yumemi Hoshisato, M.A.O as Emma Sakurai, Takashi Matsuyama as Jeeves Wodehouse, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Mamoru Hoshisato., Yoshino Nanjō as Mabe Hoshisato, Satomi Arai as Mariah Grene, amd Sumire Uesaka as Kokomi Kikyōin.

Plot concept: Ever since watching a magic show held by him and his wife Maeve, Makoto Shiranui has always admired Mamoru Hoshisato—a world-class magician, as well as friend of his parents—and came to Tokyo to become his apprentice. Kana, nicknamed Hatena, is the couple’s daughter and his childhood friend. As the hustle and bustle activities in Tokyo catches Makoto off guard such as burglaries by a beautiful thief, he depends on Hatena’s comforting side. When he came to Hoshisato’s now-haunted mansion to reunite with his childhood friend, he is greeted by the family’s butler and maid, Jeeves and Emma along with Hatena, only to discover that they are not as compatible anymore.
