Originally talked about way back in September 2018, the Akudama Drive anime series from Too Kyo Games and Studio Pierrot revealed in March that it was on track for a July 2020 debut with the promo they brought out. That promo has now been removed and they’ve added a new version of it that’s identical except for it indicating an October 2020 debut for it. As we’ve talked about, there will be a number of summer series that will abandon their slots for a fall debut in order to get their productions worked on.

The series is directed by Tomohiro Taguchi with Yoshifumi Sasahara as the assistant director. Norimitsu Kaiho is handling the scripts while Cindy H. Yamauchi is working on adapting Rui Komatsuzaki’s designs. Studio Pierrot is handling the animaton production.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Tomoyo Kurosawa as Ordinary Person (Ippanjin)
  • Yuichiro Umehara as Courier (Hakobiya)
  • Shunsuke Takeuchi as Brawler (Kenkaya)
  • Shun Horie as Hacker
  • Megumi Ogata as Doctor (Isha)
  • Subaru Kimura as Hoodlum (Chinpira)
  • Takahiro Sakurai as Cutthroat (Satsujinki)

Plot Concept: Long ago the “Kantō” and “Kansei” countries had a war that divided the world. But at the end of the war, Kansei became a vassal to Kantō. However, Kansei’s government and police force declined, and crime became rampant. The criminals are called “Akudama.”
