The Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion the Animation anime series has its home video releases handled by NBC Universal Japan and those releases have come and gone. That’s now lead to the home video release of the feature film which is now set for a June 26th, 2020 debut and we’ve now got a look at the finalize cover artwork for both editions, though hopefully a full packaging spread is to come. It’s set for a regular edition DVD at 3,800 yen, a regular edition Blu-ray at 4,800 yen, and a limited edition Blu-ray at 6,800 yen. The LE is set with a commemorative set of four hard-tickets and a 32-page booklet. No on-disc extras are listed.
The TV series was done as a series of box sets with about 16 episodes per set where they’re priced at 24,000 yen each for the regular edition and 26,000 yen each for the limited editions. The DVD side is priced at 9,000 yen each. There are also four single volumes on DVD as a way to tempt people into it that were priced at 1,980 yen each as it covered about three episodes per disc.
The show has Takahiro Ikezoe directing it with Kento Shimoyama handling the series composition. Yuka Aono is working on the character designs for it.
The Japanese cast includes Ayane Sakura as Hayato Hayasugi, Manami Numakura as Akita Oga, Rie Murakawa as Tsuranuki Daimonyama, Yuji Ueda as Shashot, Aana Taketatsu as Azusa Ueda, Tomokazu Sugita as Hokuto Hayasugi, Sora Amamiya as Futaba Mihara, and Hikaru Midorikawa as Shinpei Izumi.
Plot Concept: Hayato and other children will serve as conductors to pilot the Shinkalion. The children must work together with the adults of the “Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute” (SUEI) to defeat a monster that looks like a jet black bullet train.
