The home video release plans are set!

The most recent Masaaki Yuasa film with Kimi to, Nami ni Noretara saw some limited theatrical runs in various markets around the world where it was translated as Ride Your Wave. GKIDS Films is handling the North American distribution of the film and they’re focusing now on the home video side for it. It’s getting a DVD/BD combo that will come out on August 4th, 2020 that will include an English language dub. Extras for the set include a 12-page booklet, an interview with the producer, character stills, an animated storyboard segment, and the trailers. No pricing was revealed yet. Check out the cover to the right!

Yuasa’s directing based on the screenplay from Reiko Yoshida and the film is set for a June 21st, 2019 debut in Japan. No international distribution has been set for it yet – though his last two films were brought over by GKIDS and the interest in anime films is pretty strong these days.

Ryota Katayose will play Minato Hinageshi while Rina Kawaei will play Hinako Mikaimizu. This is Katayose’s first acting role but he comes from GENERATIONS from EXILE so there’s definitely some natural performer there.

Plot Concept: Upon entering university, Hinako moves to a coastal town. She loves surfing, and when she’s on the waves she’s fearless, but still feels uncertain about her future. When a fire wreaks havoc in the town, Hinako encounters young firefighter Minato. As they surf and spend more time together, Hinako feels drawn to someone like Minato who devotes himself to helping other people. Hinako also holds a special place in Minato’s heart.
