New ‘Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045’ 3DCG Anime Debuts English Dub Option

2 min read

With Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki setting themselves up at Netflix for a bit with several projects, the second one launched this week with the Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 project. The series is being planned as a two-cour run with twelve episodes for each season with the first season launching recently, sans English dub as they had been slowed down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s now been wrapped up and the English dub is now an available option for the series on the service.

With the first season live we now have the ability to check out what the language options are for it. The series is one that did not get additional dub tracks created for it – that will come later when dubbing can finish post-lockdowns – but it offers subtitles in English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese along with Japanese closed-captions.

Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki will be directing it with Production I.G and Sola Digital Arts handling the actual production. Ilya Kuvshinov will be designing the characters.

The Japanese cast includes Atsuko Tanaka as Motoko Kusanagi, Akio Ohtsuka as Batou, Kōichi Yamadera as Togusa, Osamu Saka as Daisuke Aramaki, Sakiko Tamagawa as Tachikoma, Takashi Onozuka as Pazu, Tarô Yamaguchi as Borma, Toru Ohkawa as Saito, Yutaka Nakano as Ishikawa, and Megumi Hayashibara as Takashi Shimamura.

Property Concept: Deep into the twenty-first century, the line between man and machine has been inexorably blurred as humans rely on the enhancement of mechanical implants and robots are upgraded with human tissue. In this rapidly converging landscape, cyborg superagent Major Motoko Kusanagi is charged to track down the craftiest and most dangerous terrorists and cybercriminals, including “ghost hackers” who are capable of exploiting the human/machine interface and reprogramming humans to become puppets to carry out the hackers’ criminal ends.
