Discotek Media has worked through a lot of material for the Galaxy Express 999 property over the years and they’ve begun taking us back to the TV series again. They previously scheduled a December 24th, 2019 release that hit with the first TV collection remastered in high definition on Blu-ray. It’s priced at $69.95 and has 39 episodes included, 930 minutes of classic Leiji Matsumoto material as directed by Nobutaka Nishizawa. Now, the second set has been scheduled for a July 28th, 2020 debut where it’ll have episodes 40 through 76. This one comes with a vintage commercial collection and the TV special “Can You Live Like a Warrior?” which they’ve managed to restore the Harmony Gold dub for.
Te third set doesn’t have a date yet but will cover episodes 77 through 113 and will include the “Eternal Wanderer Esmeraldas” and “Can You Love Like A Mother?” specials and a recap episode. The “Can You Love Like a Mother?” special will also have a restored dub version.
All the set are in Japanese with English subtitles and the cover artwork was released to the right.
