When a show goes all meta you have to be wary. The promo for this episode features the bit with the two guys in the basement with one going on about the virtue signaling of Harley and wearing a Snyder Cut shirt while the other has a “The Last Jedi Isn’t Canon” shirt on. There’s a lot of snark and sarcasm that goes into this show and you know what they’re playing at here – and you can see the reactions on social media with so many people “hurt” by it. It’s all just so utterly exhausting and unfortunately, takes me out of the show a bit. This season has been a lot of fun so far and getting an episode without much in the way of Harley is a nice twist on things so that we get to deal with a few other aspects of the property.

With Batman having been done over quite hard after the end of the first season, Batman was discovered not that long ago and Alfred has been taking care of him and his mostly broken-ish back. Amusingly, he’s got some really long hair for a bit and Alfred is all set to binge watch with him through a recovery. But, sadly, it doesn’t take long before Gordon shows up begging Wayne to bankroll things he needs to try and take back the city and this fills him in on what’s been going on the last few months – which makes for some amusing villains stepping in beyond the coolness of Batgirl. Thankfully, it’s Batgirl that he goes to try and sway from doing this first and that means the teamup really begins, especially since he’s actually kind of impressed by her follow count of 1.3 million – without many bots. There’s some good jokes that flow with this and it’s a great reveal for Gotham in general that Batman has returned, which gets Gotham very excited.

While this unfolds we also get Two-Face realizing he needs a patsy to cover for him now that Batman is back and that has him going to Bane, who after some abuse is all on board for it because he’s a sucker. So that leaves Bruce to bring in Lucius Fox to build him a better suit that will allow him to fight crime. There’s such a great dynamic in how Alfred handles Bruce and his childishness with this but also in how Alfred deals with Lucius. Having Batman go full Iron Man here is great as they’re so obvious with it, right down to the suit having a female AI named Monica. The whole thing just gets silly, and violent, as it progresses with Batman dealing with Bane but getting put out of commission in favor of Batgirl and the Macacroni guy, who is a great twist in itself. Batgirl’s the real delight as she deals with Two-Face’s goons in a pretty tough way but also because she ends up getting drawn into Batman’s orbit more formally.

In Summary:
The episode ends with “Let’s just torrent some hentai” and that pretty much says it all.
