2 min read
A new lease on life for the classic OVA.

Violence Jack DVD CoverThe path for Violence Jack has taken it to a couple of distributors over the years with Discotek Media having it back in 2014 and releasing it on DVD. The series didn’t get much in the way of streaming distribution so it’s still not widely available overall. But the folks at RetroCrush are starting to give it some love with the series available through their app right now and hopefully with more points in the near future for those that prefer to no have one more app on their device.

The series was added late last week in its English subtitled form on the app and they’ve now updated that to also include the dubbed version, making it a good bilingual choice for viewers depending on what they want.

The show was originally released in 1986, 1988, and 1990 in Japan with different production teams working on it. The DVD-only release included the original Japanese language track with subtitles and the English language dub. They list that it’s the longer version as well, for those that are looking at the differences in the previous releases.

Plot concept: Kanto Hell Earthquake has demolished the metropolitan completely. After the earthquake, Slum King is kidnapping girls and sell them as sex slaves. Mari is wandering on the devastated field looking for her lover, Ken. But she is also kidnapped by them. While she is tortured and trained as a sex slave, Ken saves her. Ken has become a member of Slum King. The king offers condition to him; in return for releasing her, he has to kill Violence Jack.
