The fall 2017 anime series Kino’s Journey has its home video releases being handled by NBC Universal Japan and they previously set a decent schedule for it. The twelve-episode series was done as a trio of releases that begin on December 22nd, 2017. They’re priced at 12,000 yen each and the first volume comes with a box to hold them all. With that long wrapped up, they’re now going back to do a proper box set release for it that’s now set for a September 30th, 2020 debut. It’ll be priced at 18,000 yen and will be on Blu-ray only. It’ll be a three-disc set, so basically the same discs as before, plus the bonus CD. Check out the details below!
The show had Tomohisa Taguchi directing it based on the series composition by Yukie Sugawara. Ryoko Amisaki is on board for the character designs with Lerche handling the animation production. The two leads are made up of Aoi Yūki as Kino and Sōma Saitō as Hermes.
The light novels began back in 2000 and there are twenty volumes out as of last fall. A TV series was done back in early 2013 along with two feature films.
Nagi Yanagi handled both the opening and closing theme songs to the series.
Plot Concept: “Kino’s Journey -the Beautiful World-” is a story about Kino, who travels around the world with nothing but her guns (for protection) and talking motorcycle Hermes (for company). Kino travels to many mystical lands, each with its unique customs and people, and learns about the world through their stories, at some times conjuring humor and inspiration or other times piercing cynicism. However, Kino has her own custom, to stay no longer than three days in every town without exception, as she believes it is enough time to learn almost everything important about the place while still leaving time to explore new lands.
