With the arrival of the new Shin Sakura Taisen game, we got a manga series from Koyori Noguchi and the spring 2020 anime adaptation that simply goes by Sakura Wars. The series is getting its home video releases handled by Pony Canyon and they’ve set a four-volume release for the twelve-episode series. Originally set to begin on May 20th, 2020, the first and second volumes are now both listed with a June 17th, 2020 debut date where the regular limited DVD are priced at 6,000 yen and the regular edition Blu-rays at 5,000 yen. The limited-edition Blu-rays are priced at 7,000 yen each. Check the full schedule below!
The series is directed by Manabu Ono based on the series scripts from Tatsuhiko Urahata along with Ono.
The main game cast will reprise their roles, as expected, with Ayane Sakura, Yōhei Azakami, Maaya Uchida, Hibiku Yamamura, Ayaka Fukuhara, Saori Hayami, and Michie Tomizawa. Additional casting includes Misaki Watada as Clara, Kenji Akabane as Valery Kaminski, and Haruka Shiraishi as Layla.
The opening and closing songs include “Geki! Teikoku Kagekidan – Shinshо̄” as the opening song and “Sakura Yumemishi” as the ending theme song.
