2 min read

With Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki setting themselves up at Netflix for a bit with some of their projects, one of those coming up is the Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 for the streaming service. The series is being planned as a two-cour run with twelve episodes for each season that’s set for an April 23rd, 2020 worldwide debut. The folks at Netflix Japan brought out a new TV spot last week and have now brought out a new 80-second clip from the show that gives us a taste of a brain battle.

The Japanese cast includes Atsuko Tanaka as Motoko Kusanagi, Akio Ohtsuka as Batou, Kōichi Yamadera as Togusa, Osamu Saka as Daisuke Aramaki, Sakiko Tamagawa as Tachikoma, Takashi Onozuka as Pazu, Tarô Yamaguchi as Borma, Toru Ohkawa as Saito, and Yutaka Nakano as Ishikawa.

Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki will be directing it with Production I.G and Sola Digital Arts handling the actual production. Ilya Kuvshinov will be designing the characters.

Property Concept: Deep into the twenty-first century, the line between man and machine has been inexorably blurred as humans rely on the enhancement of mechanical implants and robots are upgraded with human tissue. In this rapidly converging landscape, cyborg superagent Major Motoko Kusanagi is charged to track down the craftiest and most dangerous terrorists and cybercriminals, including “ghost hackers” who are capable of exploiting the human/machine interface and reprogramming humans to become puppets to carry out the hackers’ criminal ends.
