Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
Minare’s life is a tragedy disguised as a comedy full of fun surprises. Her world has come crashing down as she has to deal with the consequences of her actions in the last two episodes. She was fired and she continues to beg for her job back at the restaurant but to no avail. This episode takes a deep dive into her life as a woman who hits rock bottom with no job, money, romance or housing.
A coworker who has a crush on her tries to lend her a hand and gives her a place to stay but she cruelly rejects his feelings, slaps him and runs away like the wind. She says that she will only talk to him again if her situation gets any worse then it currently is, which I don’t think can happen. And he just stands there reflecting on what happening and realizes that he’s a hope-less man as he would be willing to let her back with open arms. This anime is full of desperate people with no hopes.
In the first episode, Minare painted herself as a functioning drunk who could take care of herself and gets home safely but that image goes out the window in this episode. Whenever she gets drunk she ends up passing out in front of a neighbor apartment and he has to take her to her apartment and puts her shoes nicely. And she won’t take no for an answer. And what his reward for doing it in this episode? Minare uses her legs and grabs his neck and drops him into the floor like a professional wrestler and then calls the cops on him leading to her further embarrassment. Her finger speed as she called the cops was impressive though. And then she has the galls to ask him if he looking for a housesitter with little embarrassment showing on her face. With her behavior in the past episodes, it should have been suspected that she is a lousy drunk but she goes down even harder when she drunk.
After these embarrassing scenarios, the episode goes back to the radio station. There is a good explanation of why Mato believes that Minare can be a radio sensation and I am glad that this episode decided to address this issue. She also is begging Mato to let her stay in the radio station storage room adding to her humiliation without shame. She ends up moving with Mizuho, an assistant director at the radio station. Mizuho has a calm, reserved attitude who has always wanted to work in the radio industry which feels like her personality is going to match great with Minare’s uninhibited personality and would make for crazy adventures.
In Summary:
The first half of this episode focuses on the disaster that is Minare’s life. She has no shame and will drag anyone into the calamity which is her life. These moments are focused on cheap dark humor and I feel that they are funny but I wonder how long these moments can land an impact. Future comedic moments will come at the cost of her sanity and maybe even yours. She is moving to a different setting as she gets hired by the radio station and has different cast members that she can inflict with her horrible luck. She does make for a fun character as she is just barely surviving in this life without a clue of her future. Will she make the radio station and Mizuho just as crazy as she is or will the radio station be able to tame her unrestrained manners?
