2020 may be the year to get CRAZY

Funimation delighted a lot of fans recently with their pickup of the Satoshi Kon directed anime series Paranoia Agent, which has been out of print for a long time. The series is currently streaming on their service with a home video release to come later in the year. With Satoshi Kon getting a lot of attention in the past year or so with various rescues and releases, the folks at Toonami are stepping in to be a part of it as well. They’ve announced plans to bring the show out as part of their lineup beginning on April 25th, 2020. It’s been a long time since the show was a staple on the network and its return will come at the 1:00 am hour when it does that night.

Paranoia Agent was released by Geneon Entertainment and the last box set hit back in the summer of 2005, which runs for several hundred dollars through most auction houses these days.

The series features the opening sequence with the song “Dream Island Obsessional Park (夢の島思念公園, Yume no Shima Shinen Kouen)” by Susumu.

Plot concept: “When the darkness overcomes the heart, Little Slugger appears….” After the first victim’s story, the police felt the overly stressed woman was having a breakdown and lied to cover-up for some crime. However, after the third and fourth attacks upon unrelated victims led to the same description of a young attacker with a golden baseball bat and in-line skates, the police had to wonder- is the “Lil’ Slugger” real or a sinister phantom?
