What They Say:
I Despise Them

Minare is surprised at the customers who recognized her voice on the radio. Mato and the MRS crew come by Voyager and recruits her right after she was told she’d be fired at the restaurant.

Minare is still facing the consequences of her drunken speech and rant on live radio. Last week, I wonder about the legality of putting someone on the radio without their permission and this episode address it somewhat. Mina signs her business card giving Mato permission to use her voice on the radio and this tactic works for him but even he questions how legal this method is.

She exaggerates her actions and this adds to her charm. She doesn’t regret her actions at the moment but her responses afterward are comedic. Minare also ends up having to apologize to her boss by bowing on top of a table and tells her to be quiet for the day. What does she do next? She goes online and sees people raving about her radio performance and starts mouthing off to her boss. And then her boss tells her she fired after summer. They go back and forward on this topic until she gets a part-time job with the radio station.

Mato sees Minare as a diamond in the rough but I wanted to see more examples of that. He does give some specific examples of why he feels she has a future in the business but it feels like those need be more earned. She has had one live unrehearsed session and I would like to see a couple more before she can earn a chance. This is going to be a long journey but I feel like she has skipped several steps that weren’t shown and she is at a point where she shouldn’t currently be at.

Some panels are drawn distinctly to show when Minare’s personality is going out of control and clashing with her coworkers. Some of these panels look like they were doing in an acrylic or water painting style. These paintings give a different dimension to the episode and demonstrate Minare’s emotions as if they right close to you.

In Summary:
Minare is so bad at being an adult. Everything she does, she just monumentally screws it up. That a reason why I’m gravitating towards this anime so much. From drunkenly spilling one of her recent regrets to a radio producer to almost getting fired from a restaurant, she just is a mess. When she is about to succeed in one of her goals, she takes one step forward and three steps back. I want to see more of her success as a radio personality be more naturally earned to reach the first scene in the first episode.
