The fall 2018 anime series Sword Art Online: Alicization is getting some new distribution as Australian distributor Madman Entertainment is stepping up to continue their release of the franchise. The first half of the first season of this is now set for a July 8th, 2020 debut where it’ll have the first thirteen episodes of the two-cour season. They’ll be priced at $59.95 and $64.95 for the DVD and Blu-ray respectively and will be bilingual releases. Extras include the clean opening and closing and the Japanese promos for the show.
Manabu Ono is directing it and A-1 Pictures handling the animation production. Gou Suzuki, Tomoya Nishiguchi, and Shingo Adachi are handling the character designs.
Plot Concept: Before he knows it, Kirito has made a full-dive into an epic, fantasy-like virtual world. With only a murky recollection of what happened right before he logged in, he starts to wander around, searching for clues. He comes upon an enormous, pitch-dark tree called the Gigas Cedar, where he encounters a boy.
“My name is Eugeo. Nice to meet you, Kirito.”
Although he is supposedly a resident of the virtual world —an NPC— the boy shows the same array of emotions as any human being. As Kirito bonds with Eugeo, he continues to search for a way to log out of this world.
