What They Say
After narrowly escaping defeat by Aoi’s admirer, Sakura Miharutaki, Mary is sucked deeper into the secret scheme to overthrow the student council…And just when things couldn’t get any worse, a gambling fever begins to take over her entire class…Will Mary be able to take the heat?!

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
The Kakegurui series are stocked full of bizarre and creative, albeit complicated, gambling games. So, it is shocking that this entire volume revolves around a pretty boring game using student test scores like cards of a game of war.

But not everything is as it seems, and rarely is that the case in this series. The mastermind of this game to win the title of class president and 300,000 yen is none other than the girl that Mary soundly defeated earlier in the series. Obviously, there is cheating going on and an ulterior motive behind all of this. But Mary can’t figure out why and how.

To complicate matters, the smartest girl in their class has joined the underground Full-Bloom Society and she’s gunning for Mary too. She can’t stomach the fact that Mary not only turned down the Society but also lambasted its leader in the process. At this point, Mary may have made too many enemies to even survive her first year at Hyakkaou Private Academy.

Can Mary not only figure out a way out of this gambling match but also save face? Will she be able to avoid paying the 2 million yen penalty side bet? If she doesn’t she will be forced to live as a Mittens and slave to the rest of the student body or leave Hyakkaou Private Academy forever!

In Summary:
In trying to prove that she is not a loser, Mary is making some powerful enemies. From members of the official student council, to members of the underground group formed to defeat the student council, to nearly every single student in her homeroom class. Mary better hope the couple of friends she has managed to make remain true friends or she will find herself living the rest of her school life as a slave to the student body.
