The boys-love brand Blue Lynx that Fuji TV announced back in April 2019 revealed at the time an anime feature film adaptation of Kou Yoneda’s manga Twittering Birds Never Fly, known originally as Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai. Getting its theatrical run in February 2020, the home video releases have now been set for it. The film is planned for an August 28th, 2020 debut where the limited-edition DVD is priced at8,000 yen and the limited edition Blu-ray at 9,000 yen. Each set comes with a 56-page booklet, a 12-page comic in that, a pinup card and on-disc extras with music videos, promos, and the shorts.
The film was directed by Kaori Makita based on the screenplay by Hiroshi Seko. GRIZZLY is handling the animation production for it.
The Japanese cast includes Tarusuke Shingaki as Yashiro and Wataru Hatano as Doumeki as the leads along with Hiroki Yasumoto as Kanji Kageyama, Yuuki Ono as Kuga, Toru Ohkawa as Misumi, Kenta Miyake as Ryūzaki, Akimitsu Takase as Hirata, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Nanahara, Takuya Satō as Ageya, and Takahiro Miyake as Sugimoto.
The manga saw a pickup back in 2013 in English through Digital Manga Publishing.
Plot concept: The sexually masochistic yakuza boss, Yashiro, isn’t the type to warm up to others easily. But when Chikara Doumeki, his newly hired bodyguard, catches his interest, he reconsiders his “hands-off” policy with subordinates. As Yashiro’s invitations fail, the yakuza boss finds out his bodyguard has a very personal reason for staying at arm’s length.
