“The Devil Megicula”

What They Say:
In a world where magic is everything, Asta and Yuno are both found abandoned at a church on the same day. While Yuno is gifted with exceptional magical powers, Asta is the only one in this world without any. At the age of fifteen, both receive grimoires, magic books that amplify their holder’s magic. Asta’s is a rare Grimoire of Anti-Magic that negates and repels his opponent’s spells. Being opposite but good rivals, Yuno and Asta are ready for the hardest of challenges to achieve their common dream: to be the Wizard King. Giving up is never an option!

So, did Asta’s attack hit or not!? It did not. Why? Well, because he stopped. He was sure there was a person there but it turned out to be just a doll. Oh wait, there is a person here! It’s a bespectacled beauty in her pajamas who’s rolling around on a thick-pelted beaver. Okay!? She then proceeds to headbutt Asta in the face! That wasn’t on purpose though. She’s just a klutz. Also, it’s revealed that she’s actually Loropechika, the queen of the Heart Kingdom. Shocking truth! Undine seems very embarrassed about the whole reveal, haha. Elsewhere, Gaja has survived the other three’s counterattack. He’s impressed by their talent. He apologizes to Noelle, Mimosa, and Finral. He admits that he forced them into a fight to assess their magic stages. The smaller the number, the stronger you are. The stages range from 0 to 9. Loropechika notes that a kingdom’s power is determined by how many mages it has that are near stage zero. If you’re fighting a devil, no one lower than stage one will able to do anything against it.

Speaking of devils, Asta is reminded that they came to the Heart Kingdom to ask about a huge curse signal that was detected here. Does the queen know anything about that? Of course! In fact, she’s the one inflicted by that curse and will die in a year if nothing is done about it. Undine can’t believe she revealed that information so casually! I can tell that Undine must have her hands full with Loropechika, haha. Well, since they know about that now, Undine also reveals that they brought Asta and the others here because they want their help in defeating Megicula, the devil that cursed the queen. Randomly, Loropechika runs off because she forgot to water the poplatatta trees! She’s a klutz and a scatterbrain, huh? That’s a deadly combo. As she’s watering the trees, Asta and Nero get a good luck at just how amazing she is. I said she was watering trees, which is true, but she’s doing so by making it rain across all the forests! She can control the water everywhere! She was also able to gather information from all around the kingdom in an instant. When they said that the queen watches over everything in the kingdom, they weren’t lying.

Undine forces Loropechika to wear an outfit befitting a queen. She certainly looks more regal! And then she immediately trips. Asta remarks that it must be the devil’s curse that makes her so clumsy. The queen remarks that it has nothing to do with the curse. She’s just a natural klutz, haha. It’s disclosed that Megicula is currently involved with the Spade Kingdom. Vanessa, Luck, and Magna are doing some scouting in the Diamond Kingdom and come across an extremely powerful mage! He seems to be from the Spade Kingdom and he easily defeats a whole bunch of Diamond soldiers. Some of them were even as powerful as captains! Just how strong is this guy? Well, to put it into perspective, even Luck doesn’t want to fight this guy! Luck, who always wants to fight everybody, is scared of him! This guy is legit.

Noelle, Mimosa, and Finral are reunited with the others. They all think that the queen looks cool and beautiful. And then she trips, again. Loropechika is such a trip, am I right? I’m sorry, that was a terrible pun. Anyway, she asks the Clover Kingdom for their help. Even if a stage zero mage were to fight a devil, they wouldn’t be able to defeat it alone. In the Heart Kingdom, they use natural mana borrowed from the spirits to use powerful magic. But that’s not enough to defeat a devil. However, in the Clover Kingdom, there are people who use irregular magic. Those irregulars have the power to defeat a devil. Such irregulars include the Wizard King, Yami, Asta, and Nero. People with inexplicable abilities like them are known as arcane stages. Loropechika wants to use those arcane powers to defeat the devils. In exchange, she’s willing to give the Clover Kingdom any information they need. It sounds like a good deal but they need to ask Yami about this first. Asta uses a magic transmission item to contact him but he’s in the middle of taking a dump, haha. Classic Yami. I guess right now isn’t the best time. That’s okay, Mimosa contacts Julius instead. He agrees to cooperate with the Heart Kingdom. Also, he was very excited to talk with Loropechika. He does love seeing all kinds of magic!

The Spade devil is no joke. The queen says he’s stronger than the devil they fought. It took so many people to be able to defeat him and this Spade devil is even stronger!? They got their work cut out for them. The queen plans to invade the Spade Kingdom in half a year before her power weakens. She wants everyone to get stronger by then and gather up everyone who stands a chance at fighting the devil. Asta and crew go back to the Clover Kingdom and give Yami the rundown. He basically tells everyone that they just have to get stronger in the next six months. Good plan, Yami, good plan. That means everyone has to use that time to get as strong as a vice-captain! Easier said than done. But you know what? All of the Black Bulls are up for the challenge! In particular, Noelle is determined to defeat Megicula who killed her mother. They can do whatever in the next six months as long as it makes them stronger! LET’S GO, BLACK BULLS!!!

In Summary:
Loropechika is adorably awesome. Like I mentioned before, she’s a klutz and a scatterbrain which is a deadly combo! All jokes aside, it looks like we’re moving towards the next major arc. The Spade devil is apparently way stronger than the devil from the previous arc and that piques my interest. Heck, he wiped out all those Diamond soldiers with ease. I look forward to all the amazing battles in the future! To prepare for the battle with the Spade devil, everyone has to get stronger within the next six months. This makes me wonder if we’re getting a time skip or if we’re going to see what everyone does during that time. I’m told that the anime is catching up to where the manga is so it’ll be interesting to see what they decide to do.
