Only Now Hentai Manga Review

With the two chapters in this mini story, I definitely preferred Just a Moment more since it wasn’t quite as skeevy, I guess you’d say.

Sometimes you make the wrong choices.

Originally serialized in Comic Kairakuten from the March 2020, Only Now is an eighteen-page story from creator Noise, who has just about a dozen other works on the service. I’d read a bit of their work before but I had tried their latest story with Just a Moment, which served as a prequel to this story – which was published first. Since I like a little character continuity and I definitely liked Noise’s artwork, especially the expressive nature of their characters, it made sense to go back and pull this chapter out to check. This one is definitely amusing on one level but it leaves you feeling a little cringy like most cheating related stories tend to at one point or another.

The focus here is on Mion as she ends up coming across her sister Kaon (Kanon in the other story translation) and her boyfriend Kyoutarou. The pair are off to do some karaoke and Kaon has pushed her sister to come with them, which makes Mion feel like a third wheel. Not that the other two are all lovey-dovey in a big way as there are issues there between them, but with Mion unable to drink because of her age, the other two get plastered pretty hard along the way and that’s just embarrassing. Even worse, the more the night goes on the loving couple end up passing out on the table leaving Mion all by herself. And this is where all the thoughts of jealousy of her beautiful older sister come to mind, including that she liked Kyoutarou for a long time and now has to suffer with hearing them fooling around in the house, which really makes it worse.

The “twist” to this is that a drunken Kyoutarou reaches out and starts fondling Mion and, after a small amount of concern, she realizes she may have her one and only chance with him in this way. Kyoutarou thinks she’s Kaon and Mion nudges things along just enough so that he’ll go along with it, undressing her a bit and then going the distance. All while Kaon sleeps passed out on the table next to them. It’s not a great moment for Mion but at the same time it’s not an unfamiliar story for hentai manga and even sometimes in the real world, albeit with a small change or two. The scene plays out well in that there’s a lot of enticing elements to it with how Mion manages the situation but the whole drunken Kyoutarou thing doesn’t do much for me and the sisterly betrayal rubs me the wrong way too.

In Summary
With the two chapters in this mini story, I definitely preferred Just a Moment more since it wasn’t quite as skeevy, I guess you’d say. Mion’s in a bad place and makes a bad decision here but I can understand the poor thoughts and choices that lead to it – and now could lead to a lot more problems for her depending on what happens. I’d actually be up for more of these characters but that’s because the Kyoutarou/Kaon material in the other story worked so well for me and I enjoyed just seeing them out dating and having fun here. Noise’s designs are definitely good but Mion didn’t seem to benefit in quite the way that Kanon did in her story so I’m not quite sure what’s going on with that.
