The new adaptation of the Osamu Tezuka Dororo manga that he created back in 1967 has found a home overseas with German distributor AniMoon. They’ve put out the first trailer for the series with its German dub and began bringing the show out with its first set on March 27th, 2020. With six episodes per set, the first one had a limited edition Mediabook that also included a Daigo pouch. Check out the cast below!
Kazuhiro Furuhashi directed it based on the series composition by Yasuko Kobayashi. Satoshi Iwataki is handling the character designs with MAPPA handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Hiroki Suzuki as Hyakkimaru, Rio Suzuki as Dororo, Mutsumi Sasaki as Biwamaru, Naoya Uchida as Daigo Kagemitsu, Shōya Chiba as Tahōmaru, Akio Ohtsuka as Jukai, Chie Nakamura as Nuinokata, and Mugihito as the narrator.
Plot Concept: The setting is the middle of the Muromachi Period, during the 1470s after the Wars of Onin and Bunmei. The story begins in the Noto Peninsula of the Hokuriku District. The main character (Hyakkimaru), who lacks as much as 48 body parts, obtains a fake body and eliminates 48 monsters that were made from his body to retrieve his missing body parts.
