Photon Cover CPMOriginally released in Japan back in 1997 through 1999 and distributed in North America by Central Park Media, Discotek Media previously picked up the rights to the Photon OVA series and is now giving it some expanded distribution. Midnight Pulp is expanding the distribution of the show by bringing the fun classic OVA series to their own site, which you can find here. The six-episode OVA series clocks in at thirty minutes or so per episode and is in its original Japanese language with English subtitles.

The distributor recently brought it to the Amazon Prime Video service with the previously created English language dub through Midnight Pulp. Prime members can stream the show as part of their membership while anyone can buy episodes for $0.99 cents each or the season for $4.99 in standard definition.

Based on the original work by Masaki Kajishima, the OVA series was directed by Koji Masunari. Shinya Takahashi worked on the character designs and served as the chief animation director for it with AIC producing the animation.

The Japanese cast includes Junko Takeuchi as Photon Earth, Yui Horie as Aun Freya, and Yumi Kuroda as Keyne Acqua. The English cast includes Scott Cargle as Photon Earth, Suzy Prue as Keyne Aqua, and Tara Jayne as Aun Freya.

During this heroic quest, he is accidentally engaged to a renegade space pilot! Now they’re on the run from the evil emperor of the galaxy and his bumbling henchmen. But even worse than the incompetent bad guys are the disastrous cooking contests, exploding spas and cheerleading aliens!
