I’ll admit, it’s still a little odd that with all the food-related anime adaptations out there that What Did You Eat Yesterday? hasn’t gotten the anime treatment. That changed a bit last year when a live-action TV series arrived in the spring of 2019 and had a solid run. Now, a feature film is in the works that will have the actors from the show, Seiyo Uchino and Hidetoshi Nishijima, reprising their roles for it. Series director Kazuhito Nakae and writer Naoko Adachi are also working on this with other cast members reprising their roles as needed.

The work from Fumi Yoshinaga that’s being released in English by Veritcal Comics which began in 2007 and has sixteen volumes out in Japan so far with Vertical just two volumes behind.

Plot Concept: A hard-working, middle-aged gay couple in Tokyo come to enjoy the finer moments of life through food. After long days at work, either in the law firm or the hair salon, Shiro and Kenji will always have down time together by the dinner table, where they can discuss their troubles, hash out their feelings, and enjoy delicately prepared home-cooked meals!
