Room Camp Episode #12 Anime Review

Room Camp was a delightful little project

“Room Camp”

What They Say:
The Outdoor Activities Club, Aka, the Outclub has 3 members. In the countryside of Yamanashi Prefecture, there’s a high school named Motosu High School. Go even further to one of the school buildings and you’ll find a very laid-back outdoor club that uses one corner of the classroom as their club room. Kagamihara Nadeshiko finally wants to kill some time in their club room, but then Ohgaki Chiaki and Inuyama Aoi suddenly announce that they’re all going on a trip. The girls enjoy the various local treats as they travel around, but where in the world is the end destination for this trip?!

The series draws to a close with this installment but the girls are having a little bit more fun. The trio have gone to the schoolyard where they’ve made a small campfire, which may seem unusual to us but with the big bonfires they do there not quite as problematic perhaps. But it’s still something that raises a few red flags for me. For the girls, and the gent that stops by to remind them to be safe, it’s a chance to do a little light camping there, cook some food, and spend time together and talk of different things. It’s not terribly deep but it works to reaffirm the relationships as they stand and the reveal of the whole stamp program being made just to make Nadeshiko happy, which makes a really big impact on her.

In Summary:
Room Camp was a delightful little project that was easy to get into even if you’re like me and hadn’t seen the main series. It works the main trio of characters pretty well as they go on a mini-quest in between their bigger camping gigs that they like to go on and you get a good handle on their personalities tied to some solid animation and design work. It definitely makes you want to pull out the main series and take that in to get more time with the cast and to get ready for the second season of that main series.
