“It Begins! School Festival”
What They Say:
The button appeared out of nowhere. There weren’t any signs NOT to push it…so the solution is obvious, right? Is it a trap or the start of something new and exciting? The crews of Re:Zero, Overlord, Konosuba, and The Saga of Tanya the Evil will find out when they go from their world to another and get stuck in…class?! See what adorable chaos they’ll get up to in this collection of shorts!

Everyone seems to be having a fun time at the festival. Tanya warns them not to go overboard, especially Captain Weiss! Speaking of going overboard, Visha is having a very good time. I’m pretty sure she bought almost all of the food at the stalls! In fact, they show the chocolate banana stall and it’s already sold out. Visha’s hunger knows no bounds! Do you like surprises? Seiya and Ristarte from Cautious Hero: The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious make a surprise appearance! Well, Ristarte was shown before but we never got a look at her face. But now we know without a shadow of a doubt that it was her. She wants to go to the festival but Seiya refuses. They don’t know what danger lies within so he’s not going in. He walks away as Ristarte latches onto his leg and whines, haha. This was my favorite moment of the episode.
Elsewhere, Aqua can’t seem to hit anything in the shooting game. Kazuma makes fun of her and then adds that they should be going. Aqua isn’t leaving until she hits something, dangit. Kazuma and Megumin are totally ditching her but Emilia decides to stay behind with her. Such an angel! As they’re walking away, Kazuma admits that he’d love to replace his party of losers with Emilia. Hey, that’s rude! They aren’t…so bad. Anyway, over on the stage, Yunyun is performing a play…all by herself. Yup, she’s playing all the roles herself. That’s impressive and very sad at the same time. Poor Yunyun. Backstage, the four isekai protagonists are talking with each other. Ainz is the only one wearing his horse head and it’s hilariously distracting. Tanya can’t help but poke fun at him. Speaking of animal heads, Naofumi has to wear an ugly duckling head. Raphtalia and Filo think it’s cute but the isekai protags feel bad for him. Ainz is a little bit annoyed that they sympathize with Naofumi and not him, haha. Don’t feel bad, Ainz! Filo thinks your horse head is cute. Tanya jokingly adds that he is indeed cute, haha.
Ainz gets a call from Albedo informing him that the mobile fortress Destroyer is back. It’s destroying the school! But what about the festival!? It’s clear that they have to stop it. Tanya asks Roswaal if the teachers are behind this? He denies it. Sometimes unexpected things happen, you know? Welp, I guess it’s time for the isekai protags to put a stop to the Destroyer. Unfortunately, they can’t. They have to do their play. Okay? Roswaal says not to worry because there are others that can handle this situation. Albedo, Aqua, Emilia, and Visha promise to defeat the Destroyer before it can ruin the play. Tanya thinks that this is madness! She thinks that they won’t be enough to stop it. Kazuma disagrees and states that Emilia has Puck, Albedo is strong, and Visha is good at defense. Everything will be fine…as long as Aqua doesn’t mess everything up. Tanya remarks that she was confident a moment ago, but she’s worried. Kazuma feels the same way, haha. I’m sure it’ll be fine! Probably. Maybe. Okay, they’re doomed. Anyway, Raphtalia and FIlo decide to help them out, too. On a side note, seeing duckling Naofumi, Reinhard, and Julius talking with horsey Ainz amused me way more than it should have. It was such a hilariously bizarre scene.
As for the play, everything will proceed as planned. The only problem is that Aqua isn’t here and she’s playing the role of the fairy godmother. Well, who’s going to replace her? Kazuma suggests Megumin since she wrote the script and probably knows all the lines. However, she doesn’t want to play the part. But it’s an emergency! Tanya starts saying that it’s probably for the best. A normal person like Megumin possibly couldn’t handle this role. Ainz joins in on the fun and agrees that Megumin is only a normal person. She wouldn’t be able to memorize all those lines. This angers Megumin and she proclaims that she can totally play this role! In fact, she’ll become the great wizard that shall guide Cinderella to the ball. Tanya and Ainz mischievously smirk. Megumin fell for their trap, haha. The episode ends with Albedo, Aqua, Emilia, and Visha staring down the Destroyer.
A new challenger appears! Well, challengers. Seiya and Ristarte from Cautious Hero join the fray! It’s great to see them. Hopefully, they’ll become more prominent characters in the next season of Isekai Quartet. You know, if there is one. Can you imagine Aqua and Ristarte together? I want this to be a thing, like right now. I’m hoping they at least play a role in the final episode. Perhaps Seiya could lend a hand against the Destroyer? Only when he’s fully prepared, of course! Anyway, this was a fun episode with a lot of good comedy. No complaints from me. I’m still really looking forward to seeing all the iseki protagonists as horses! Why was Ainz the only one in costume!?
