‘Blade of the Immortal’ Manga Getting Hardcover Deluxe Editions

2 min read
A new high-end way to own the series.

With Dark Horse Comics having released the first volume back in 1997 for Blade of the Immortal, the series has certainly been around a long time and hasn’t been the easiest to find sometimes. The series saw digital editions back in 2015 and the publisher at the time also started bringing out omnibus editions of the series from Hiroaki Samura. With that having been worked through and the success of the Berserk deluxe editions, this series is now scheduled to shift the omnibus editions into that. The first hardcover deluxe edition is set for an October 20th, 2020 debut and should run the same number overall, with ten volumes, priced at $49.99 each.

The series completed in Japan back in 2012 and Dark Horse released their final volume, the 31st, back in 2015.

Plot concept: A cursed, seemingly immortal warrior aids a young girl in her quest for revenge, as the students of a brutal new sword school tear a bloody path across Japan. Hiroaki Samura’s massive manga series spawned two anime adaptations, a spinoff novel, an art book, and a live-action film! Samura’s storytelling tour-de-force also won Japan’s Media Arts Award, several British Eagle Awards, and an Eisner Award, among other international accolades. Intense and audacious, Blade takes period samurai action and deftly combines it with a modernist street idiom to create a style and mood like no other work of graphic fiction.
