It was revealed as part of an event in November 2018 that several new Gundam projects are coming up as part of the focus on the Universal Century timeline. One of those was the Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash feature film, which is being done as a movie trilogy that’s based on the 1989 novel trilogy from Yoshiyuki Tomino. Originally planned for a tentative winter 2020 time period, the first formal teaser for the film arrived at the beginning of the year that set it for a July 23rd, 2020 release date for it in Japan.
With a new minute-long promotional video with English subtitles, we get a better look at the project as it comes with some of the casting information. The newly announced cast includes:
- Kensho Ono as Hathaway Noa
- Rena Ueda as Gigi Andalucia
- Junichi Suwabe as Kenneth Sleg
It has Shukou Murase directing all three films with Yasuyuki Mutou working on the screenplays. Pablo Uchida, Naoyuki Onda, and Shigeki Kuhara have the job of adapting Haruhiko Mikimoto’s distinctive designs.
