I’ll admit, even as it comes from a pretty legitimate place like Slash Film, it won’t be official until it’s official. With the second season of The Mandalorian in production for the fall, it looks like one of the more anticipated characters from the animated works might be making the leap to live action. A source of theirs indicates that Rosario Dawson, who has campaigned for the role previously, will be appearing on the series. Created as part of the Clone Wars series and a favorite of creator Dave Filoni who got his live-action directorial debut with the first season of The Mandalorian, the character has been talked about as a potential player for either an appearance like this, a streaming film, or a streaming series of her own.
Check out some of the videos below about the character. She’s one that has had the most talk over the years of getting some further kind of project and after crossing into the Star Wars Rebels series where she mixed things up with Thrawn, there’s a lot of potential there to take the overall property to some interesting new places.
Lucasfilm previously revealed that the cast in that it would include Pedro Pascal along with Gina Carano and Nick Nolte. We also got an expanded list of who is involved with Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), Carl Weathers (Predator), Omid Abtahi (American Gods) and Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man).
Jon Favreau is writing it and working as an executive producer on the series. Dave Filoni of the animated side will be directing the first episode while other directors include Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Deborah Chow, and Rick Famuyiwa. Greg Fraser from Star Wars: Rogue One is on board as the cinematographer.
Plot Concept: After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
