New ‘Sakura Wars’ Anime Promo Delivers The Theme Song Goodness

They say you can never go back but the music to Sakura Wars says otherwise.

Word came down last September that the Shin Sakura Taisen game is inspiring a manga series from Koyori Noguchi that kicked off and that a new anime series would be coming as well. With the a game set for a debut in spring 2020 in the west, the new anime series recently revealed through its official site that it’ll debut on April 3rd, 2020 on Tokyo MX and BS11. With that in mind, the official site has now brought out a new promotional video to highlight what’s to come and working the theme songs to good effect.

The series is directed by Manabu Ono based on the series scripts from Tatsuhiko Urahata along with Ono.

The main game cast will reprise their roles, as expected, with Ayane Sakura, Yōhei Azakami, Maaya Uchida, Hibiku Yamamura, Ayaka Fukuhara, Saori Hayami, and Michie Tomizawa. Additional casting includes Misaki Watada as Clara, Kenji Akabane as Valery Kaminski, and Haruka Shiraishi as Layla.

The opening and closing songs were revealed and streamed below with “Geki! Teikoku Kagekidan – Shinshо̄” as the opening song and “Sakura Yumemishi” as the ending theme song.

Game Concept: The game will take place in the 29th year of the fictionalized “Taisho” period of the franchise in the capital of Tokyo, taking place 12 years after Sakura Wars V.
