The summer 2018 anime series Muhyo & Roji’s Bureau of Supernatural Investigation was a surprise when it was announced and it was a surprise when it began in August 2018, weeks after the usual season start. With a second season announced during the summer of 2019, Funimation has now announced their pickup of it for the summer 2020 season. The distributor intends to simulcast and dub the show but they’re also going to stream the first season in its original Japanese and will produce a dub for it as well.
With the first season, Nobuhiro Kondo directed it based on the series composition and scripts by Yasuyuki Suzuki. Kouichiro Kawano is handling the character designs with Studio DEEN producing the animation for it.
The previously announced Japanese cast includes Ayumu Murase as Tōru Muhyō, Yuu Hayashi as Jirō “Roji” Kusano, Tetsuya Kakihara as Yōichi Himukai, Hiroshi Kamiya as Soratsugu Madoka, Mitsuki Saiga as Reiko Imai, Wataru Hatano as Page Klaus, Rie Kawamura as Yū Abiko (Biko), Satomi Akesaka as Rio Kurotori, Iori Nomizu as Nana Takenouchi, Tetsuharu Ohta as Tiki, Kōhei Amasaki as Kenji, Yōji Ueda as Maeda, Ami Koshimizu as Furuya, Kazumasa Fukagawa as Iwamoto, and Kyousuke Ikeda as Fujiwara.
